My Statement

Multidisciplinary artist Bella Knight explores the importance of presence and how we are interconnected to our environment. Originally from Jersey Channel Islands, she navigates feeling at home in multiple locations, and art is a way that she can reconnect with her late grandfather, who shared the same passion for nature. Her lived experiences are recorded through memory and direct observations, with emphasis on exaggerated colour, due to her emotional reaction towards it. She recreates physical space, recording the relationship to time through painterly layers, seeing herself as an extension of her work. The surfaces are the offloading of visual data, demonstrating her individual perception.
